Helping Children Smile Confidently!

Our Services

Kid's Dental Services

At Lakeside Pediatric Dentistry, our main goal is to ensure that every child who visits us has a positive experience. We firmly believe in the long-term perspective, striving to create happy patients who are excited about their dental visits. Our dedicated team goes above and beyond to provide a comfortable and friendly environment, ensuring that each child feels at ease during their appointment. We understand the importance of building trust and fostering a positive attitude towards dental care from an early age. With Lakeside Pediatric Dentistry, you can trust that your child’s dental experience will be a memorable and enjoyable one.

Dr. Monroy and his team are here to educate children and parents, and help them form healthy habits for a lifetime. We offer a broad range of services including comprehensive exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, ceramic crowns, laser dentistry, and non-invasive treatment options for very young kids or those with difficulty tolerating conventional dental treatment. We work hard to ensure each appointment is positive and comfortable for our patients. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and oral conscious sedation, as well as care under general anesthesia at McLaren Hospital to help manage fear and anxiety.

First dental visits are what we’re best at. The American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and American Academy of Pediatrics all recommend a child have their first dental visit one by their first birthday, or six months after the first teeth erupt (whichever comes first). While we especially love the opportunity to start early, we welcome kids of all ages and love patients with special needs. We love what we do, and are proud to be a part of your child’s oral health.

Our goal is to help your child achieve a happy, healthy smile!

Treatment Options

Comprehensive Exams

Dental exams are the best way for our team to find any issues before they become problems. We can get an in-depth look at not only your child’s teeth, but the bones and tissues of the mouth as well to ensure everything is growing and functioning properly. We recommend having an exam performed every six months to keep your children’s smile at its best.

Cleanings

It’s important to have our team perform cleanings twice a year for many reasons. First, these cleanings help remove plaque and tartar, which helps prevent future periodontal disease. These cleanings also allow us to evaluate their brushing at home and provide any education to help them improve.

Digital X-Rays

X-rays aid in detecting cavities and early problems like missing, impacted, or extra teeth. We use digital x-rays as they dramatically reduce radiation exposure and are available instantaneously. X-rays can also show bone diseases, infections, identify problems or fractures after trauma, among many other things.

Ceramic Crowns

Crowns, or “caps” as they’re sometimes called, are tooth-shaped coverings that are cemented to the tooth in order to aid in the restoration of the tooth’s function and shape. If your child’s tooth is extensively decayed, fracture due to trauma, or has developed properly we might recommend a crown.

While the most common crowns for baby teeth are made of stainless steel, we are proud to offer ceramic (tooth-colored) crowns as well. Not every patient is a candidate for them, and stainless steel is still often the preferred material, but if you’re interested in more esthetic options for your child be sure to ask.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

We are one of the first and few dental offices in our area to offer this revolutionary treatment option for the management of tooth decay. Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is an antimicrobial liquid that is able to treat cavities in a non-invasive, fast, affordable, and painless manner.

Some patients who have active tooth decay may be eligible for an alternative treatment that uses Silver Diamine Fluoride. FDA approved in August of 2014, SDF became commercially available to dental professionals in April of 2015. Compared to a traditional filling that requires shots of local anesthetic and drilling of tooth structure, this treatment is non-invasive and more comfortable for the patient. It is a liquid that is simply brushed on to the cavity that can stop current decay and also prevent new decay in the future.

Conscious Sedation

Conscious sedation is becoming more common in helping children with dental fear and anxiety get the treatment they need. We use nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, to help kids remain calm and relaxed during dental procedures.

Laser Dentistry

As part of our commitment to providing our patients with the highest quality care, we are proud to utilize the Solea dental laser system. This system is FDA-approved and is cleared for both hard and soft tissue procedures. We utilize the Solea laser to provide treatment and restorative care for the teeth and gums. This includes fillings, crowns, gum tissue removal, and more.

Among the many benefits of laser dentistry is it results in less discomfort, swelling, and bleeding. Because the laser provides pinpoint accuracy, it allows us to treat a specific area without affecting the surrounding tissue. In many cases, laser dentistry services can be completed without the need for anesthetics.
