Lakeside Pediatric Dentistry

After graduating from Michigan State University with a B.S. in physiology in 1999. Dr. Monroy attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and graduated in 2003. He then completed a 30-month residency and a Master’s Degree in Pediatric Dentistry from UofM, finishing in 2005. Dr. Monroy and his wife Karen (a general dentist herself) practiced in the Muskegon area for nine years before decided to return east to be closer to family and friends.

During his time on Michigan’s West Coast, Dr. Phil was on staff at Hackley Hospital, worked in a private practice, as well as with a large group practice were he served as the Director of Pediatric and Hospital Dentistry, as well as the Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Dr. Monroy has served as the President of the Michigan Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the President of the Michigan Council of Dental Specialists, and the President of the Thumb District Dental Society.

He has been Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, is a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, is a member of the College of Diplomates, and the American College of Dentists. He has lectured throughout the State of Michigan and nationally on a wide range of topics, including infant oral health and quality improvement in dentistry.

More importantly, Dr. Phil enjoys time with his wife and 5 kids (aged 16, 15, 12, 12, and 9 (10 in the spring) ). He and his wife have been married for over 20 years, and enjoy horseback riding, kayaking, camping, and traveling together. He is a strong believer in working with kids and their parents to take a team approach to managing oral health and preventing further disease.
